I'm
a Mac user (using OSX). I have downloaded the installer
and unStuffed it, but when I launch the installer -
nothing happens!
You'll most likely need the newest
version of Stuffit Expander. You can download it free
from Allume Systems (formerly Aladdin): http://www.allume.com
Once you install this version of
Expander, you'll be good to go.

I'm
a Mac user (using OSX). I am trying
to install the software and I keep coming to something
called "stuffit". What is this?
“Stuffit” is
a software application.
A tool really.
It decompresses a .zip or .sit file.
When internet files are put up onto the web for others to download, they are
compressed. This makes it easy to download the file.
You’ll need to uncompress them. Sort of like a futuristic pizza. Just add
water. ...“Stuffit” is the
water.
http://www.allume.com
Provides a free utility called Stuffit Expander.
Stuffit is available for both Mac and Windows users.
Windows users can also use a program called Winzip.
Download and install Stuffit Expander (or Winzip) – then
run the installer for your Laughingbird software.

I
purchased your software YEARS ago! I want to reinstall
it. How do I do this?
I use DigitalRiver (http://www.digitalriver.com) for
my eCommerce and download system. They handle the likes
of Adobe, Microsoft and a good 30,000 others. Including
The Logo Creator :)
They're pretty good at allowing you to view your account
info (unlock codes as well). You can re-download your
software and grab your unlock key.

How
do I take an element from one logo and use it in another?
Try
this trick (It’ll
come in handy):
Delete everything off the canvas except for
the image you want.
Choose “Export > PNG Transparent”
Then, launch the logo you like. Choose Import from the FILE menu and bring
the image in.
This works well when you want to alter the color of a swoosh, or group
a few objects together to use as one unit.
Choosing the PNG with transparency option will create a file with no background
(clear).

I
want to write the word 'Hello
World',
but I want to be able to move each word around. I
want the words separate.
Try this:
Type
the word “Hello World ”.
Change the font, size, coloring ... What have you.
Then
choose “Duplicate logo
element” from the MODIFY menu.
This will duplicate your text with all of the attributes
you’ve added to it.
Click
on this new text, and type “World” into
the text field.
You should now have two words,
exactly the same, that you can move around separately.

I
have the Mac version of The Logo Creator. When I try
to apply custom text to my logo, the entire app disappears!
What happened!?
This
problem seems to only occur if you have your keyboard set to "US
Extended with Unicode"
Here is a letter I received from Robert Pritchett, Editor
of Mac
Companion
Marc;
This may be hard to believe,
but the Beta Team (Chuck Rogers) at
MacSpeech identified a fix to the beta for iListen -
The keyboard was
the issue! I had it set to US Extended with Unicode.
When I set it to
US with Roman, the Beta 9 program for iListen began playing
nice. so
ZI had a thought, and went with the flow. Sure enough,
The Logo Creator
customized text for the Taglines works now!!
Incredible!!

Can
I use my own images with The Logo Creator? I've got
a ton of clip art I want to put into my new logo!
Of course! The Logo Creator can import
many different types of graphic formats. You can import
clipart images or your own drawings that you've scanned
in, or use any number of online photo agencies that provide
high quality photos.
The Logo Creator accepts Jpegs, PNGs,
GIFs, BMPs, and TIFs.

What
if I don't have any of my own images? I don't even
know how to use a scanner!
Don't worry. The Logo Creator
was meant to be used as a stand alone product! Everything
you need is contained in The Logo Creator! You don't
need any graphic design ability. A little creativity
will help, but you don't really need that to produce
a professional logo. We've done all of the hard work
for you.
if you ARE a logo creation designer, The Logo Creator can be used as a great
jump off point to jump start your creative process.

When
I try to open up a saved logo (a ".tlc"
file), after double clicking it, Corel
Paint Shop (or some other graphics program)
opens up. What gives?
It may
be that your computer has changed the file association.
It thinks a logo creator file is a Corel Paint Shop
file. You need to change the "file association"
in your settings.
A) try opening your logo from within The Logo Creator (choose Open from
the File menu).
B) Right click over a ".tlc" icon on your desktop. Choose "open
with..." and choose 'The Logo Creator'. On some machines, you may have to
restart in order for the changes to take effect. When you next double click on
a TLC file, it should launch The Logo Creator and open your logo.

How
do I create a transparent background? I want to use
my final logo on my website! I don't want a white bounding
box behind my logo
To
create a transparency, first create your logo over
the same color background that you'll have on your
website. You can change the logo's background color
by selecting the "Set Canvas
Color" under the MODIFY menu.
Create
your logo, and then choose the "More Export Options... " menu
item (under the EXPORT menu).
Select the transparent GIF option.
When you push this button, your cursor will turn into
an eye dropper. Move it over your logo's background
and select the background color.
When you hit the big Export button,
you're logo will be saved as a transparent Gif (no
white bounding box!)

If
you use the logo creator software to create a logo
for your company, can that logo be copyrighted? It
seems that another company could use the same logo
with their name.
Yes, you can copyright your logo.
Even if a user uses the same template - which is highly likely! - the name will
be different ... and thus, the logo is different as far as the copyright office
is concerned.
If a user happens to have the same name, the same byline, then you're going to
have a hassle anyway whether they've used the same template or not! :)
Chances are, you're going to be the only one with your company name. Unless you
create a name like "CyberHosting" or something generic like that.

backup servers. You can re-download your software,
check the status of your order and other things. Just

I
think Only $29.95 is too expensive. I wish you were offering
The Logo Creator's logo sets for less.
I appreciate this question.
I personally think that Only $29.95 for 80 professional logos ... logos that you can
modify ... is a steal! :)
I often have month end sales
on most of my logo sets as well. Sometimes I drop the
prices to $29.95.
If you're a webmaster, graphic designer, or a motivated
entrepreneur, you can sell each
logo you create.
If you're looking to have a logo created for your own
business, you're saving yourself hours of searching,
and potentially hundreds of dollars. A graphic designer
on the net charges anywhere from $200 - $1000 (USD) per
logo. With The Logo Creator modules, you're getting 75
logos for under $30. If you want to be creative, you
can literally make hundreds of logos from just one of
the modules.

I've
just tried to save my logo as a .gif! I'm getting a "TLC" file
format that my browser can't read!
Don't get confused with "save" and "export".
They're different.
If you "Save" a logo, you save it as a '.tlc' document. This is different
than "Exporting" the logo as a jpeg or a gif.
Saving allows you to re-modify the logo later.
You can bring in a saved logo by using the "Open" menu option. Exporting will basically take a screen
shot of your finished piece and export it as a picture... a non editable image.
You can export using the "Export" pull down menu.

I've
just exported my new logo as a 300 dpi TIF image. From
my desktop, I double clicked the new TIF image to see
what it looks like ... but it looks VERY pixilated!
What gives? I thought this was a high rez file?
The Logo Creator has output
the file as a 300dpi image. Now, you need a program
that can handle the DPI information. Photoshop, Paint
Shop Pro and Fireworks will view and print the image
just fine. The image will look smaller than what
you see on The Logo Creator's canvas, but it will
print sharp and clear.
If you have a program that is printing your high rez image large and grainy...
try selecting "page setup" and set the "scale" or "percentage" to
25%. This will print the image smaller, but crisp and clear.
You can also print the logo directly from The Logo Creator.

This
software seems great for website design. But if one
of my clients asks me to create a logo for their
company. ... (this may include letterhead, envelopes,
business cards. etc), will this program help me to
create company logos for use on stationery and the
like?
The Logo Creator
will output most any format that your local print shop
can handle. We've partnered with many great
companies just for this reason!
Check
out VistaPrint.com to get your logo put onto promotional
items
Take a look at our new software product; The Corporate
Identity Creator to get matching business cards and
letterhead with your new logo

My
exported Jpeg files are a little too big. I'd like
to reduce them in "k size" so that my web
page loads faster.
The Logo Creator is a logo creation
tool. To produce the highest quality image, we don't
compress the final output. You can, however, download
a number of shareware programs that will compress the
file with ease. There are so many out there, we don't
want to single any one out. But use a shareware site
like Download.com or TwoCows.com.
Search for "jpeg compressor" or "gif compression
software". You'll find dozens to choose from.

I
couldn't unpack (Unzip, Unstuff) the installer. That
was a pity! Can you help me?
We compress our installers so that they download easily
from the internet. We Zip our Windows installer, we
Stuff our Mac installer. You should have the latest
versions of both Winzip (or some other unZipping utility)
for Windows, or Stuffit Expander from Aladdin Systems
if you're on the Mac. (Aladdin has a great unzipper
for Windows too!) Both of these utilities are free
to download from the links below:

I've
just upgraded from version x to x and
it still shows that I am running the DEMO version.
(or : My logos no longer exist!)
Sounds like you may have installed the
updater into the wrong folder.
I bet if you did a search for 'the logo creator' you'll find 2 versions. Make
sure to install the upgrader into the same folder that your original TLC resides
in!
Try the above once more. If you
continue to have troubles, please
let me know!

Can
you tell me if The Logo Creator is compatible with
Windows XP? Vista? Mac OSX?
Yes! Version 3.0 and above is fully OSX
and XP native! AND, it'll run on lower
end operating systems too. You won't be
able to run it in Windows 95 however.
If
you still have Windows 95, you should probably
buy a newer machine :) Microsoft doesn't
even support it anymore! - logo creation
does take some resources away from your
computer no matter the graphic design software .
Although The Logo Creator is not (yet) built natively
for Vista or Intel Macs, the software works very well
with these newer platforms.
